He joined the Lagos State Civil Service in November 1st 1990, through Post Primary Teaching Service Commission, (PPTESCOM) Old Secretariat Ikeja as Finance and Supply Assistant (Accounts)
Later in 2005, PPTESCOM was scraped and decentralised into Educational Districts. Mr. Alabi was thereafter deployed to District VI and promoted to the Post of Principal Executive Officer (Accounts), GL 12. He later converted to Procurement Cadre in 2012.
For his educational background, he obtained a Higher National Diploma (HND) Accountancy, ATS II Professional Accounting Certificate (ICAN). He is a Fellow, Institute of Company and Commercial Accountants of Nigeria (FCCA) and holds a Professional Certificate (CIPSMN), Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply Management of Nigeria.
